All meetings take place on the second Monday of the month and will be held at The Parish Rooms, Plymouth Road, Tavistock (immediately to the right of the Bedford Hotel). Meetings start at 7:30pm and finish at 9:30pm. Visitors are welcome to come along to any of the programmed events (with the exception if Life Drawing) for a fee of £5 per head per evening.

Refreshments are available at 50p. Remember that, for the practical sessions (marked with ** beside the date), you should bring your own art materials if you want to participate.

2015-2016 Programme

14th September Painting the Coastal Footpath - David Crocker, Painter
David walked around the South West Coast Path painting a picture every day for a year. He wanted to depict the diverse nature of our coast. He is going to share this experience with us.
12th October ** Eyes, hands, perception - heart. You can draw! - Anita Townsend, Mixed Media
Drawing is the key essential tool of the artist and is fun. Anita will share her approach to drawing. Please bring dry media, soft pencil, charcoal or conte.
9th November ** Working with Acrylics - Ian Heard FRSA, Painter
Ian is going to unravel the mysteries of acrylic paint and ingredients you can add to it for exciting effects. This is another practical session so bring acrylic paint and something to paint on such as thick paper, card or canvas.
14th December Art Bring and Buy - A Christmas social evening
An opportunity to sell unwanted art materials, art books etc with mulled wine and mince pies.

Capturing the personality of animals. - Nick Mackman, Sculptor
Nick is an award winning ceramic and bronze sculptor. Many of her subjects are highly endangered and she likes to enlighten us to their beauty, humour and tenderness. She will be giving a talk, slide show and a practical demonstration of how her sculptures are created.
8th February The Big Painting Challenge - Anthea Lay, Painter
Anthea took part in the BBC Big Painting Challenge and will talk to us about her experiences.
14th March ** Hidden things that inspire my work - Maggi Squire, Mixed Media
The ordinary is extraordinary.This will be about the mystery of producing something that intrigues and is curious. Maggi will provide everything that is needed for this practical evening.

Life Drawing
An extra evening for those interested in observational figure drawing.
11th April Landscape Painting - Joe Dowden, Painter
Joe is a highly respected watercolourist who has a friendly, lively approach to techniques. Joe will give a lecture about his work in the evening for all the membership

For those interested there will also be an all day workshop for a fee of about £25 depending on number of participants. We are hoping this will be en plein air. Further details will be announced nearer the date but please e mail Marilyn if you wish to show interest.
9th May ** Release your creativity. - Laure Bury, Painter
Laure will share some of her techniques and inspirations, demonstrating that Art can be a joyous experience and there should be no rules blocking or limiting our creativity. She will give a presentation of her work and then lead us in a practical experience of an aspect of it. To join in please bring a small canvas 25x25, acrylic paints, palette knife, old toothbrush, decorator’s brush.
