Tavistock Group of Artists 2025 Annual Exhibition

Exhibition Dates and Times

Handing In: Sunday 7th September, 6 pm – 7:30 pm
Preview Evening: Monday 8th September, 7 pm – 9 pm
Exhibition Opens: Tuesday 9th September, 10 am
Opening Hours: Wednesday to Saturday, 10 am – 5 pm
Exhibition Closes: Saturday, 13th September at 5 pm
Unsold Work Collection: Saturday, 13th September 5 pm – 6 pm

Stewardship

All exhibitors are expected to share in stewarding
Please contact Ian Pethers to offer your services
Non exhibiting members are also invited to steward
A final roster will be sent to stewards before the exhibition
Some members will be needed for emergency/reserve list

Categories of Works

Artists may submit work in any of the following categories:

Framed original works (for hanging)
Mounted, unframed originals and prints (for browser)
Cards: hand-painted or printed
3-dimensional work and sculpture

Exhibition Set-up and Dismantle

Collection of screens: Sunday 7th September, 4pm at Pitland Farm, Tavistock (1 mile north of Tavistock past Hurdwick Golf Course, turn right in the wooded bend)
Setting up: 4.30pm at Butcher’s Hall, Sunday 7th September
Dismantling: 5pm Saturday 13th September

Conditions for Submission

General

Commission on ALL sales: 30%
All payments for sold pictures will be by BACS
All works are exhibited at the artists’ own risk
All work must be original (the artist’s own work and composition)
First time exhibitors should tick the check box at the top right of the entry form

Framed Original Works

A maximum of 8 large pictures and 4 small pictures (small pictures: maximum 26cm x 20cm glass size – i.e. inner frame)
All work must be labelled with a stick-on label at the back with the following details printed clearly and, ADDITIONALLY, a luggage-style label to hang over the FRONT of the work with the same information
a) Title of Work
b) Medium used
c) Name of Artist
d) Price of work
Works that have previously been shown at this exhibition may be resubmitted regardless of age
Minimum price for each large work exhibited: £50
Minimum price for small pictures exhibited: £20
Only one “Not for Sale” picture accepted
If a picture is sold and taken away you may replace it with another of your works (at no extra charge)

Mounted, unframed originals and prints (for browser)

Paintings previously shown at this exhibition will be accepted
Up to 5 original works and 10 prints unframed and mounted (except oils)
Works must be firmly backed and neatly covered with transparent film (not cling film)
Clearly identify each item with artist name and price
Please price in round figures

Cards: hand-painted or printed

A maximum of 20 hand-painted cards and a maximum of 50 printed cards
Clearly identify each item with artist name and price
Please price in round figures – recommended minimum price £2 (increments in multiples of 50p)
No late additions to, or withdrawals from, stock will be permitted
Unsold cards must NOT be removed at the close of the exhibition until sales totals have been agreed

3D work and sculpture

Due to limited space, large or unwieldy items cannot be accepted

Submission Process

Complete the appropriate entry form
For original works, including 3D art, submit the form with appropriate fees (see below)
No late entries, alterations or withdrawals will be permitted
Phone entries will not be accepted
For cards and prints, submit form and fees on handing-in night

Entry Fees

Framed original works

£3.00 per entry, picture size up to 60 cm (length or breadth)
£5.00 for any picture exceeding those dimensions

Mounted, unframed originals and prints (for browser)

£1.50 per entry

Cards: hand-painted or printed

£1.00 per 10 cards, £5 per 10 books and larger items

3D work and sculpture

£3.00 per free-standing work
£5.00 per sq foot of display case

Presentation of Pictures

Ready for hanging with D rings approximately one third of the way down from top of frame with picture cord pulled taut
All paintings on canvas may be submitted without a frame, provided the sides are neatly finished
Clip frames will not be accepted
Unsuitable frames will not be accepted

Trophies and Awards

Awards will be presented during the AGM / Enrolment Evening on Monday 6th October 2025
THE WARD TROPHY and a cash prize of £50 will be awarded for the picture voted ‘Best in Exhibition’ by the viewing public.
THE NICHOLS TROPHY will be awarded for the ‘Best New Member/first time Exhibitor’ as voted for by the viewing public.
